How Bridgerton Changed My Mornings...

It's the end of the month so it's time for a short inspirational blog :)

Easier to absorb at a time when energies runs and we are preoccupied with end month wrap ups and prep for the start of the new year.

If there is ever a great time for an extra boost of inspiration, it is now.

So, back to Bridgerton. Yes! I first resisted and then soon capitulated. And I was hooked!

For those of you who have no clue what I am talking about, Bridgerton is a Netflix period drama based on Julia Quinn's novels set in the competitive world of Regency era London.

Brimming with flair, flamboyance, intrigue, and cliff hangers, there was also an "ah ha" moment that I certainly hadn't expected to find.

The new Duchess of Hastings, perplexed with how to make her marriage work, asked her mother for advice on how she loved her father so much.

Violet Bridgerton wisely counselled: "We chose to love each other, every single day".

Now, this blog is not going to be about love, but intention.

Possibly our biggest luxury in life, regardless of where we are born, social status, race or religion, is the chance to set our intentions. Every single day.

We get to choose the energy we put out to the world and to those around us. Every single day.

As Viktor Frankl eloquently puts it:

"Our greatest freedom is the freedom to choose our attitude".

On the days when I wake, still feeling exhausted because I have been doing too much, my default is to be grumpy.

Most people who know me have probably never seen this side of me, but my husband certainly has!

It is so easy to stay grumpy, blaming the late night, or the dog I tripped over because I wasn't looking.

But thanks to Bridgerton wisdom, I realised I can choose to change it in a second.

And I do, almost every time 😅

The last year and a half has been incredibly challenging, and intention setting is just one of the resilience strategies that has got us through.

This quote embodies the challenges we have all faced this year:

"Forces beyond your control can take away everything you possess except one thing, your freedom to choose how you will respond to the situation".

The concept of setting intentions can also be applied to our marketing content.

It is easy to randomly grab something, anything, just to get your social posts out there, or to quickly decide on any topic as blog content.

Tick. Job done. Post posted. Blog published.

But was it created with intention?

Did you intentionally have a specific audience in mind?

Were you intentional about what you wanted your audience to learn from your post or blog?

Did it include an intentional call-to-action?

The more intention we have about the content we create, and for whom it is intended, the higher perceived value it will have.

And the more valuable it is, the more it stops the scroll and encourages higher open rates.

Setting intention is the fundamental element of getting your audience to:

a) notice you

b) get to know you

c) like you

d) listen to you

e) trust you

f) take the action you want them to take

I shall let this percolate like an excellent coffee. The idea is simple, the practice is harder.

But all great things start with awareness and baby steps.

Robert Louis Stevenson provides some extra motivation in his quote:

"Don't judge each day by the harvest that you reap, but by the seeds that you plant".

I wish you a wonderful years end and an intentional start to 2022.
